Paper Names

Paper Names is a body of work that focuses on craft as a healing process. By utilizing The National Archive of San Francisco, familial materials, and found photos, I am able to retell my alternative American herstory. My relationship to images and cultural objects are sources for the generational memory that link my work to the past. I combine the inherently progressive nature of handcrafted ceramics and quilt-making as a contemporary mode of storytelling. Paper Names is a patchwork narrative that rejects racial binaries as a solidified representation of mixed identity.
